This is how we used to eat (Così Mangiavamo) is a feature documentary which chronicles the last fifty years of Italy’s history from the social and political perspective of food, by investigating the eating habits of italians over several decades, narrated by actress Giuliana Desio. The story unfolds along two parallel paths: the author’s private history and the developments in the public sphere, focusing on food trends, social customs, the intense deprivation in the years immediately after World War II and the evolution of food as pleasure, choice, cult and fashion.
